It is my rubber mat that emit harmful odors?
I just bought a rubber mat black door, which states that it is made from recycled materials. In fact, it smells strongly of rubber, as in the tires, even after leaving it out in a week by air. Even the smell left in the hands after handling. Is it safe for indoor use? Or is it a release of toxic substances? Thank you.
Recycled rubber tire in the U.S. by grinding in the oil then cook for a few hours at a high temperature due to (supposedly) devulcanization. This is what you are likely to smell. , Probably is not toxic but it sucks to put up with this? Take it back to the store.
