Retirement Camping – Bringing Comfort To The Outdoors
You’ve finally made it. You have put in your time working and raising a family. Now you are ready to retire and spend some time in the great outdoors. Camping equipment has come a long way in the last few years and there are amenities available to make you comfortable while reacquainting yourself with the beauty of nature. There are entire campground communities that cater to retirees. They provide many services of a hotel concierge, without the costs. They are often located near national parks and forests. The perfect place for a long weekend fishing or a week-long outing spent hiking and sightseeing.
Canvas and screen tents provide protection from the elements and are easy to set up. If you are camping with a group, consider the two or three room options. This provides privacy as well as extra space that may be needed in inclement weather. Sod cloth floors make sure you do not have uninvited guests. Full height doors and roofs ensure entrance and exit is easy and that you will not need to stoop or crawl to your sleeping bag. If you love the sleeping bag experience, but are not thrilled with sleeping on the cold, hard ground, consider a camping cot.
They fold up, making them easy to stow and store and help ensure a good night’s sleep. Camp stoves are so much more compact and reliable than they used to be. Whether you are cooking for a large group, or just yourself, there are inexpensive options available to meet your needs. Made from stainless steel, they have burner windscreens to prevent heat loss and electronic ignitions that will light no matter how damp the conditions. Small single burner options are great for day trips. If you are planning an extended trip, camping gear should include furniture and lighting for comfort and convenience.
Folding picnic tables and chairs are lightweight and portable allowing you to have enough seating for large groups without wasting space. Made from polyethylene resins and aluminum alloys, the tables are durable, yet weigh less than twenty pounds. Folding chairs bring the comfort of home to the campsite with drink holders, folding tray tables and sun shades. Propane lanterns have igniters, eliminating the use of matches. However, if you don’t like propane, there are also 12-volt or battery operated lanterns that are weather resistant and the LED bulbs last for years.
