Why is it when people mention they are camping alone, so many people say they will be bored?
To alot of people, being alone while camping is not boring . Some people do not need others to be there , to talk to and such. Sometimes the solidarity of it is really nice and part of the fun . I camp on the river on the weekends and people think i am nuts. I’m not nuts…I’m with people all day at work during the week, being by myself and watching a movie on the DVD player in the tent before bed is pretty relaxing .
Do others enjoy camping alone as well ?
Yes. I remember once that a friend asked “What do you do out there by yourself all weekend? Don’t you get bored?” And I responded that I watched baby chipmunk nests, read a book, saw bald eagles feeding their young, wrote a few letters, hiked to the fire tower and climbed up, grilled corn and sweet potatoes in the coals, and saw the planets Mars and Saturn. My friend looked at me blankly and said, “Yes, but what did you DO?”
Some people will just never get it.
