The horrendous act of cutting or Self injury
"I lower the blade on the pale skin on the inside of my arm, and the use of an acute angle sheet, quickly make a cut two inches. I do not go too deep. And when I'm in control, as now, I can do it to perfection. And so I'm done. Hardly feel the pain of the cut at all. It's like not even hurt. "
"I can see family with fascination as the blood flows in one, clean straight line. There is something reassuring to see my bright red blood exposure like this. It is as if this sign that I'm still alive and, strange enough, that one day everything will be fine. "
Although this is the story of a fictional character, Ruth Wallace (novel written for teenagers by Melody Carlson: Silver leaf), this dangerous act of self injury is at a place in the U.S. and other countries.
Technically, the court means the intentional use of sharp objects like knives, needles, broken glass etc. by adolescents (especially girls) to create cuts on his arms, legs or other parts of the body as an outlet for emotional pain or disruption of strong emotions and pressures that seem impossible to tolerate. It is a kind of self injury that usually begins in the teenage years and if it becomes an addiction it might continue into adulthood as well.
Negative emotions such as anger, sadness, rejection, despair, longing, or emptiness can all lead to this horrendous act, because this gives a false signal to the teenager that this could help them cope with the pain of relationships with problems or unbearable pressures or strong emotions. Teenagers who think they are a fit for the company or that no one understands often become easy targets of this law. Court could also be the result of the loss of someone close or a vacuum leak or because the subject to sexual abuse.
The danger does not end here. Damage is sometimes associated with depression, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, obsessive thinking, or compulsive behaviors. People who take it may suffer from other mental health problems that require them to take drastic measures. Cutters also could participate in other self-destructive behaviors like drug abuse or alcohol.
The dangers can go beyond the physical and mental and it is not always possible to judge the depth of cut. If the wound becomes deep that could lead to stitches or hospitalization. Failure sterile instruments use could also lead to infections. On the other hand, can become a compulsive behavior (habit). The more a person engages in it, the more feel the need to.
We will try to control this epidemic is spreading at a rapid pace because this may take a big storm, but their fears are permanent and will pursue you and your child forever.
