activites for an ADHD kid?
I have a 6 year old son who is ADHD. Needless to say he’s very active. I’m running out of ideas for him. I was just sending him outside with boxes of chalk and new digging tools and bug houses. But I’m in Texas and it’s not as much of a possibility during 5 days of 100+ heat. He has ton’s of things like Knex and legos. Lots of crayons and coloring books. I do a lot of school activity worksheets and we read etc etc. He just gets so bored of everything so fast. My husband has even built him a computer. I hate him sitting on it for long periods of time but I figure it’s better than TV. It at least gets him to stop running for about 10 to 15 minutes.
To make a long story short. I’m completely out of ideas. I don’t have the money for day camps and I make too much for scholarships and things like that. I was just wondering if there were any ideas that I hadn’t thought of.
Thanks
i have A.D.D. and A.D.H.D. and im 14 and i think you should just be creative! like take something and hide it … i love doing that when i was little and now …. like a treasure hunt! or get him a science kit or a magic kit i loved that when i was little and it kept me going for days! or a baking thing like an easy bake oven! make a hat out of newspaper! have him dance to some music….. toy trucks… hide and seek…
Play a game of Hide-and-Go Bake. This doesn’t mean hiding what you bake from daddy so you all can eat more. Nice try. It means hiding all the ingredients in your house so the kids can find them! First, hide the ingredients (where you’ll remember their location). Then, give the list of ingredients to the kids (add pictures for the little ones who don’t read yet). Once the kids find all the ingredients, it’s time to bake! Don’t know what kind of cookies to bake? You can keep it simple with sugar or chocolate chip. Just keep in mind that the more complicated the recipe, the longer the scavenger hunt–your call moms and dads.
