Camping Back
tips for camping? first time going on a hike first then camping then walking back?

i’m going with my cadets so not to sure what to expect.
what can i do to make it easier or what can i do at all i don’t know what to do really
what to expect?

Don’t worry, they’re not not going to turn you into a lump of quivering jelly.
Keep it fun, that’s the first big thing. Time goes better, the trail looks better, and everyone else is better, if there are no misery-mongers around.
Make sure your shoes are good. Good grip, waterproof, and clean.
You need proper clothes for it, in layers. Take off a layer if you get too warm.
Waterproofs and a small towel for bad weather.
Washing kit and a big towel just for you.
Spare clothes, not too many. If it’s only for one night you just need socks and underwear, maybe a shirt.
Knife fork and spoon. KFS. Called eating irons by the folks who call them eating irons.
Sleeping bag. And a liner if you have one. If not, don’t worry.
Shoe brush and polish. Taking care of your shoes keeps them waterproof.
Very small first aid kit. The leaders will have one anyway.
A small pack of tissues.
A water bottle with water or juice, and something to snack on, like biscuits. Chocolate and raisins are great for camping and help to give you energy.
Anything else is luxuries. The more you take the more you carry. Keep it light.

Have fun, stay happy, be a good companion, be helpful.
No moaning if there are a couple of little jobs to help with.
Just help and keep smiling. It won’t be too hard.
That’s what the leaders are looking for.

I did the looking out and noticing things when I was assessing people on big Army training camps, senior adventure scout camps, and assessments for scouts, guides and even little Brownies.
It’s all the same whether it’s for sweet little Brownies or big tough Marines, just a different standard.
It’s how well you do at being happy and helpful even if it’s raining and blowing a gale, and things go a bit wrong.
They probably won’t go wrong. It’s likely to be a real good laugh.
It won’t last forever. Enjoy it while you can.
Keep it happy but stay sensible with it and you’ll get good marks.
Have a great time.
