Where can I but a camping air mattress with a standard Scrhader valve?
A Schrader valve is what is on car tires. The mattress that I am looking for would be for a single sleeping bag and be about 4″ high. It would have sectional tubes in it so that it could be firm without requiring as much air as the air beds. They used to be plentiful, but now that the old one seems irreparable, I am looking to replace it.
Yeah…they used to be. Nowadays most good quality air matresses have the inflation system built in and you plug it into the cigarette lighter. Others are self-inflating, such as Therma-Rest. Otherwise they are just the cheap vinyl kind you find on beach balls and pool floats. It’s cost efficient for the companies to make them this way. Since most air compressors have a Schrader inflation head that one can affix inflator pins to (for soccer balls, etc.) and they also have a flexible tube with cone shaped attachments that can inflate and deflate beach balls, air mattresses, pool floats, etc. etc.
Looks like it’s time to upgrade. Go buy some new gear. It always makes me feel better.
