Camping Candle

What lighter would you recommend?

I am looking to buy a light that will last longer in general & fuel wise. I don’t smoke the reason I want one is for lighting candles, incense, camp fires etc. There are so many lighters to chose from that it can really be confusing buying one. I don’t know if it would be cheaper over all to buy a zippo lighter or disposable ones. Also there are different types of fuel for lighters to which really get confusing.

Thanks for your time

I too don’t smoke, but find a lighter handy to have around for lighting stuff: candles, the BBQ, and even sometimes the gas range. The one I find handiest for all of those purposes by is a butane disposable BBQ lighter, the kind with the flame at the end of a stem. They’re self contained and adjustable. Bic makes them, though there’s a variety of offbrands as well, and they’re at Target and Wal-Mart in the garden section or the checkout for a couple bucks a pop.

ADDED:
I bought my first disposable charcoal lighter 4 years ago and 2 backups in a twin pack I keep in the drawer. Four years later, I’m still using the first one!

The stem really helps for both reaching inside the charcoal briquets and down into the well of table candles, much better than any other lighter I’ve tried. And as for matches, I don’t miss them a bit!
