What are some essentials I should pack for camping?
I’m going camping for 3 days. I have a tent, a tarp for under the tent, sleeping bags, a canopy, an LED lantern, and a 12 volt coffee maker that works in my truck. I figured an ince and a dry cooler. What else do I need?
Oh, there’s another adult and one child age 9. We have activities planned for the days, but no rainy day/evening plans – all we have is UNO…

The essential items you need for a camping trip vary from trip to trip depending on what you are doing, where you are going, weather, and other factors.
Some would argue that since you have a lantern and a coffee maker, you don’t need anything else.
Essential items should always be carried in a separate bag and would be considered a survival kit.
The real question is what do you need to carry camping to be comfortable and confident? This depends largely on your level of experience and your level of tolerance.

Keep the child busy, have something to do all the time. Make sure you include him/her in the daily chores of camping.
Keep that belly full, especially in the evening. We have found that kids rest a lot better if given a hardy snack late in the evening.
Make sure you carry plenty of bug spray. We also use a lot of citronella oil and candles.
