Which of these itineries is better for a weeks self drive ( or train ) in England?
lake district for sure with wife and 2 daughters ( 11 and 7 ), also i will do the amusement parks with my daughters in London. Then my wife goes off with her family to France and i want to have some outdoor bonding with my daughters.
maybe self drive or train or hire a camper, but i want to be close to nature, maybe see some quaint towns, maybe a holiday village, and do a bit of kids interest stuff as well. A week my daughters will remember with their father. My choices were
1 – Cotswolds
2 – Cornwall and devon ( maybe dorset too )
3 – Kent
4 – Yorkshire ( but i guess i could do that with the lakes )
5 – train up to Northumberland for camping ?
I hope you have a lot of time on your hands because its quite a way from Cornwall to the Lake District.
The areas you have chosen are quite spread out so it’s difficult to create a journey plan. I would say if you are starting with the Lake District you should then travel to the Peak District which takes around three hours or there about. Then travel to Kent along the M1, about a four hour drive. Then along South England along to Devon and Cornwall Via the Cotswold’s.
Northumberland seems a little out of the way just for a spot of camping, especially when you will be passing through other areas of outstanding beauty of which to camp. You also mentioned Theme Parks, Alton Towers could be called at on the way down to Kent and Chessington World of Adventures while travelling from Kent to the south-west coast. Also Blackpool Pleasure beach is around 50 miles from the Lake District.
Hope this Helps
