Camping or youth hostel in Pula, Croatia?
There is a group of us going to Pula in July we are deciding whether to camp or stay in a youth hostel. Are there any camp sites near to central Pula. Can anyone recommend a good youth hostel?
Also, we are thinking of travelling to Dubrovnik but as its is quite a long journey can anyone suggest a place to stay for a day or two on the way down the coast. Thanks
Ok well I havent actually stayed at any of the hostels, but I know that the one in Rijeka (about 45mins NE of Pula) has not long opened and has received excellent reviews (I know this coz I live here)
As far as camp sites, you could try looking online before you go-
www.campingcroatia.net (click on Istra)
www.hfhs.hr (click on english, then Istra).
If you wanted to cut your trip in half when you go down to Dubrovnik, you could stop at Sibenik (Shib-e-nick), they have camping sites there too. Its a coastal city about 4hrs from Pula, or maybe Split, also on the coast and about 5-6hrs from Pula.
Both are really nice, but Split is much bigger and more popular with tourists.
The roads will be packed that time of year, so allow plenty of time. You can check border crossings, highway congestion and the weather before you leave on- www.hak.hr
Good luck, have heaps of fun, Croatia is beautiful!!
