Camping Dining Sets

I am moving into an apartment for 1 year, would Rent a center be a good option for me?

After the 1 year is up I don’t want to bring the furniture with me (or I doubt I’d be able to, I’m going into the military, boot-camp, etc. & I think I’d live in military barracks for a while). Also, I’d be 18 w/ no money and no credit history. I’m thinking of renting a dining room set & a living room set.

Also, is there any way to check how much these things cost before hand? I was on rentacenter.com but I didn’t see any prices.

&&& Lastly, is a year a long time to rent from rentacenter? Do most people just do it for a month or so? At the end of the year, do I just own the furniture since I’ve probibly paid 10x’s what it’s worth?

The reason I think it is a good idea is because I can’t afford the new furniture upfront, & if that means I have to pay more in the long run, then that’s ok with me.

Thank you & please answer all my questions for the 10pts! (:

I looked into Rent-A-Center when I moved last year. It was cheaper and easier to go on Craigslist and get what I needed. For a bed I went to Target and got a regular height inflatable bed and put a memory foam topper from Costco on it, mattress pad, sheets, and it’s more comfortable than any bed I ever had, and when I move, I can just deflate it and keep it in my trunk of my car…when I move again, I will just sell the stuff back on Craigslist and get most of my money back! If you go to Rent a Center they will give you prices, but trust me on this, it’s insanely expensive, and if you have any unexpected financial situations come up, you can have serious problems with them. Craigslist has a free section, and sometimes you can get good stuff there, also if you put in an ad in the furniture part and say you are in the military, people are happy to help you out with decent furniture. Give it a try! Good luck and God bless you for your sacrifice.
