Shopping in Snowdonia: Retail Therapy Wales North Road

You would be forgiven for thinking Snowdonia is not exactly the center business in the United Kingdom. With so much open country – and city streets clogged little smoke so high – it would receive no joy in Snowdonia where your greatest passion vacation is shopping.

But what it lacks in Snowdonia in dirty, crowded main streets, it is independent shops that sell everything from sausage winners pottery hand.

Food purchases

You drool over the delicious local food available in Snowdonia. "Locally Produced" means less food miles, so you can enjoy specialties such as Welsh Black beef, Local beers and a wide selection of preserves and pickles without feeling guilty about your footprint food.

  • Blas ar Fwyd, Llanrwst: the largest caterer in England and Wales outside London, this award-winning deli stocks a fabulous selection of food from farms in Wales.
  • Solla Gill, Aberdyfi: a fish with its own specialists smoking, plaice Gill Snowdonia supplies many restaurants with high quality fish and game.
  • Cadwalader's Ice Cream, Criccieth: a family business that has been manufacturing award-winning ice cream to a secret recipe for decades.

Markets

Snowdonia markets are not just for shopping … are where the locals gather to socialize, and are ideal for soaking in the Welsh language of life.

  • Bala: Every Monday (summer).
  • Barmouth: Thursdays and Sundays (In summer).
  • Caernarfon: Every Saturday throughout the year, and Monday during the summer.
  • Llanrwst: Every Tuesday. In addition, a farmers' market on the third Saturday of each month.
  • Machynlleth: Wednesday.
  • Porthmadog: Friday (summer).
  • Pwllheli: Every Wednesday. There is also a farmers market Glasfryn the first Saturday of each month.
  • Tywyn: Monday (summer).

If you like shopping and great brand and you want a solution of your favorite high street names, you will find main roads of Snowdonia, malls and business parks outside the city.

Big names Snowdonia busiest shopping destination – With the longest high street in Wales, to boot – is Bangor. Here you will find many great designers, entertainment and electronics stores and supermarkets and independent retailers that sell everything from CDs new and used (Cob Records) for household items (Saks). There are two malls within Bangor – the Menai and Deiniol – and several business parks in Caernarfon road.

You can also find a good mix of major brands and independents in the main street and alleys Caernarfon. Some of the best jewels are hidden in Caernarfon's medieval streets, so be sure to explore the city thoroughly.

Bala Main Street, with its wide sidewalks and old buildings, it is certain that in turn good deal or two and Betws y Coed, with its many outdoor stores, is a popular destination for climbers and camping.

Arts and crafts

Inspired by the landscape of Snowdonia and produces incredible talent. Slate, wool, timber, gold, raw materials are everywhere in Snowdonia but it takes talent and hard work to transform them into works of art.

  • Potters Gallery, Conwy: Cooperative organized and managed by local potters, showing the quality of local pottery, including coins and limited edition single.
  • Glassblobbery, Bala: glass in hand and ceramic products sold directly to the impressive shop, a tourist attraction in its own right.
