Camping Du Tremblay

Campites in (or very close to) Paris?

I am looking to spend 2 nights camping in Paris in early August, and would like to know if anyone could recommend a nice site.

As I will not have a car, it would be better if the campsite was as close as possible, or at least connected well to a bus service, or had their own shuttle bus service.

The three names I have seen so far are ‘Champ Paris est la Tremblay’, ‘Camping du Parc de la Colline’ (which advertises a minibus service) and Bois du Boulogne (which appears to have a questionable reputation.

Any comments on any of those sites, or reccomendations of where might be better?

Definitely stay at the Bois de Boulogne one, it’s a short walk to the Pont de Neuilly métro station on line 1, very convenient to visit Paris. Apparently there are buses too.

It doesn’t have a questionable reputation. Bois de Boulogne is a lovely place during the day. It is true that at night it is full of transvestite prostitutes from Latin America, but they’re mostly on the opposite side of the wood from where the campsite is and you don’t have to walk across the wood to reach the metro, you’ll only be walking along it, on the west side. Just don’t walk through the wood at night and you’ll be fine.

The Le Tremblay one is right along the highway so it’s cut off from smaller streets which makes it a long walk to the nearest RER stops. The Parc de la Colline is in Torcy near Disneyland, which is too far. As for the minibuses I may be wrong but I think they take you to Disneyland rather than Paris.

There are better campsites outside Paris but for only two nights I think your priority should be location location location and not waste time on public transportation.
