Are there good places to hike near Chicago?

I enjoy hiking, backpacking, and camping (but not in a campground amongst hordes of other campers). Are there places that are good for these sorts of things near Chicago?

I’m guessing there aren’t any mountains nearby, since the Chicago area is so flat… but are there at least some forests or something like that?
