One of the most popular state parks of California is the Morro Bay. Morro Bay is a great park, featuring lagoon and natural bay habitat. You can reach the park from the San Luis Obispo highway, then turn left and go about one mile- to reach the state park. If you want to reach the park from south, then you can take the highway to Los Alos and then travel about 10 miles to enter the state park. The park has moderate to cool weather and during the summer time, the temperature is 30 degrees cooler in the park as compared to the inland areas.
This park provides a lot of recreational facilities for the visitors to enjoy. You can enjoy activities like hiking, fishing, trailing and bird watching. You can enjoy all your favorite sports and activities in this amazing park. Moreover, the park also has a museum that features natural history, Native American Life, oceanography and geology. This museum is known as the museum of natural history and offers activities like nature walks, puppet shows, videos, lectures, tours and organizes special events to entertain the campers.
The museum is situated just one mile away from the park. You may also visit the Chumash garden situated along the side of the park and learn how Chumash used the native plants (found over here) for their daily use. The park also houses an 18 -hole public golf course and a colorful marina as well. The park also has a pristine saltwater marsh at the north eastern side- that supports a thriving bird population. Some of the facilities provided at the park are dump station, comfort station, entrance area, fire rings, restrooms, showers, visitor’s center, Wi-Fi service and ranger station.
However, you need to remember a few things before coming here- this park accommodates only two vehicles per campsite and the fees includes entry for just 1 vehicle or 1 legally towered vehicle. The reservations are available all the year round and if you are bringing along your discount pass- then you should present at the time of check-in.
