What kind of snake is green with black rings?
I saw this snake when I was at camp as a kid, and I’ve always wondered what kind it is.
I was in the Ocala National Forest in Florida. The snake was several feet long, with a wide body. Its color was bright green with thick black rings across its body. It darted past me in the fallen leaves and moved pretty fast! I had never seen a snake that big in the wild before and I’ve always wondered what species it was.

I’m afraid that’s not one I’ve ever heard of in North America (or indeed anywhere). The only suggestion I can make is that since Florida unforrtunately serves as a dumping ground for all sorts of weird tropical organisms, it might well have been some sort of African or South American snake I’ve never heard of.
