Is the part where a nazi officer’s son enters the camp and then dies did that really happen?
To the best of my knowledge, the movie is not based on any one particular story. However, when you consider some 6.4 million people were killed in Nazi concentration/death camps, it seems very likely there were people killed who were accidentally sent to the camps or otherwise mixed with the Jews by mistake. It would not be the least bit surprising that there were children who were accidentally taken because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time.
