Relax, it's just harmless fun!

Every year when we approach the end of October we began to see the paths supermarkets are filled with witches hats, devil horns, plastic heads of Frankenstein, and more. Halloween happens again. As you expect from our friends across the pond in the U.S. do all this in a much larger scale. large areas are devoted to the event as a whole, the parties are planned, huge bags of candy are purchased, mobile homes are the horror and ghost trains in major cities, horror movies released in the cinema and many lost television and radio and more.

Then on the night of 31, we see how Children dress up as devils, witches, ghosts and a variety of other horrible characters and walk around our streets with good times with a permit eating so much sugar that can be inserted into the stomach without being sick.

Questions abound: Is it really just good innocent fun? If Christian parents have their children participate? What is the message and the witness did give the world (and especially our children)?

Well, certainly the implication clear the world is the devil, witchcraft and evil are nothing at all and just for fun though innocent child's play, not to worry. Exactly the message that the devil wants us to believe.

Halloween is an obvious target easily, but when you look further to see that this is only scratching the surface and the Devil more Erosion really different tactics used throughout the year. Some easily identifiable, some in costume, all the damage.

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, what is pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

My concern is that as Christians, we must strengthen our defenses and take our levels of consciousness to a higher level because we are missing or ignoring most of the attacks that devil gradually gradually Christianity1 fundamental truths. In recent weeks, for example, I noticed a growing contempt, scorn, ridicule and undermine the truth in the themes of death, eternity, heaven and hell, in particular. I do not want to Christopher Hitchins and Richard Dawkins of this world, who play their role openly. I speak of subtle and constant bombardment by the devil in the fundamental truths which are the key in the direction of modern society away from God, His Word, and especially the only way of salvation for sinners to death, hell and eternal punishment. What else could be more important to defend?

Let me explain with examples of a variety of sources that jumped to my attention that I think are indicative of the problem. Start with television and movies.

TV and Cinema (None of which is recommended)

Ted's Excellent Adventure and Bill

As I was flipping channels on TV recently I saw a movie that I remember enjoying as a teenager – "Excellent Bill and Ted's adventure. This film was the hand of Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey". The two films were Adolescent humorous adventures and antics of Bill and Ted. A couple of things caught my attention back History:

• For the plot, we find death the two main characters, the character in a traditional black robe holding a scythe. Now, of course, neither Bill nor Ted want to die, if defying death in a series of games to regain their lives (Twister, for example). Bill and Ted can result unexpected and well win their freedom.
• On another occasion, we find two Bill and Ted to hell. The experiences of your invoice hell have to kiss her fur family member, while Ted is in a strict military camp. In a short period of time, the two manage to return to a normal life.

Little Nicky

A few weeks ago, I saw a short excerpt from "Little Nicky", a comedy of Adam Sandler on one of the "so-called" children of Satan in hell. Subtly the message given is that one can escape death, hell and the action, if you're smart or expert. At best (for lack of better term) Hell is described as a horror movie scary, but when the credits to roll up the entire screen is generally well again. Moreover hell and the devil are portrayed as comic and a reduction or at least the concept is ridiculous and the only people who worsening go to be punished.

Humor

Someone recently told me a joke about the apostle Peter at the gates of heaven. He said something as:

John died and arrived at the gates the paradise of heaven, he met the Apostle Peter.

Peter: "Welcome, I have to enter just a simple question – Heaven is a place love and to be here please write the word LOVE to me. "

John: "Oh well, LOVE

What effect does this have?: Humor of this kind implies that the trial is pleasure, and thus may be laughed reality is rejected. The first example gives us the impression that somehow their eternal destiny is still subject negotiation after death. The Bible tells us clearly that our eternal destiny will be determined before his death, there is no way to change it.

Language

Many unnecessary and misleading statements were loaded into English.

"Go to hell"

"No, hell freeze

"It hurts like hell"

"This food is heavenly"

"I'll Sleep When I'm dead "

"It's like if you wait an eternity"

What effect of this?: serious reality of death, eternity, heaven and hell are undervalued and are part of common language. Thanks to the consistent use of words and the truths they represent can become "the water of a ducks back."

Music

My work took me recently in Nashville, Tennessee, where I had the opportunity to visit Grand Ole Opry, home of country music. In the bill that evening Charlie Daniels who became famous song "The Devil went down to Georgia. " lyrics tell the story of Johnny, who was challenged to a contest to play the violin by the devil. If he wins, he would keep gold violin, if he lost, he would lose his soul. Of course I won, and then Johnny will taunt the devil with an invitation to return any time for revenge.

What effect does this have?: The involvement of the songs above is in some sense by his own effort that can outweigh the devil and hell. There is also another occasion where the devil is made to look insignificant (all that is concerned about being the best fiddler around).

Celebrity

On June 25, 2009, approximately 155,000 people have died and entered into eternal destiny2. Among them was' King of Pop "Michael Jackson. In the first hours after his death to hundreds of celebrities colleagues and hundreds of thousands of fans around the world is Messages of condolence.

Examples:

"I hope that finally worked out their purpose in life, before his departure "- Yusef Islam (formerly Cat Stevens)

"You can rest in peace Michael Sweet – Lenny Kravitz

"I make a call to people everywhere to pray for him "- the Rev. Al Sharpton, civil rights activist

"Your star will shine forever "- Mariah Carey

"We are out of our joy. It is out of pain "- Rev. Jesse Jackson

"Now is the brightest star in the sky "- the music channel TMF

What effect does this have?:

It is important to understand two things before drawing general implications:

1. I am no judge of men. My opinion of people, famous or not not anything to do with your eternal destiny. God is the only judge. Therefore, I am not judging or imply anything about Michael Jackson. Hope he came to faith in Christ before dying.
2. But we must also be realistic or we are also undermining the truth. Therefore, you should always proclaim that God is clear in his Word the way of salvation through His Son Jesus Christ and his atoning death on the cross. If someone dies without repentance of sins and faith, your eternal destiny is also very clear.

The above reactions are generally I say typical, implying the following assumptions:

• The person is at peace and pain – As explained above, the Bible tells us than is the case if they follow the planned route for the salvation of God, through His Son Jesus Christ.
• This person can always pray for, somehow that help – The Bible tells us that death is the gateway to one of two destinations. There is no way to change this after event.

I recently attended a funeral and a family member has read the famous poem by Henry Holland at the congregation.

What effect does this have?: Let's be clear here – is a poem highly prejudicial and give false comfort and hope to families and friends, if the deceased was not a Christian. Religion

It is a vast subject to cover in a few words.

The Bible tells us that a true Christian is someone who has repented of his sins, has turned to follow Christ Jesus and not dependent on its own merits and strengths of salvation, but only in death and resurrection of Jesus as the payment of its debt.

In this group of many religions distort the truth (I drop my heart every time I see another Kingdom Hall under construction), and water down many of the message, which loses the key elements necessary for salvation. While Christianity is to tell people what they want to hear. The message can easily get assistance "self" or "Well, yes and all is fine" message, and many now say churches it would be better classified as social clubs on Sunday.

On holiday recently, we were faced with a choice of three churches promising in a row on Sunday morning. We opted for the "Evangelical Lutheran Church" with the following verse of the card outside:

"For by grace are ye saved through faith – and this is not you, it is the gift of God – not by works, lest any man should boast "

I left the service that day, angry and without food. The church was full of people who all thought they heard a word of God, I heard an anti-Christian message that led far from the true path of salvation.

What effect does this have?: Appearances can be deceptive and misleading. There are so many mixed dangerous rise, mixed messages. These positions watered down the message of salvation and the less urgent the sentence is less intimidating. If hell exists and that the trial all ", as if to make a PG-13 in the worst case, and even then, there must be a way out.

CONCLUSION

The pressure to dilute the message of Christianity has been there since Jesus began his ministry, and so on. So what is the truth of God word4? What you need to believe and do to be a Christian?

• An all-powerful and eternal God created
• The Bible tells us that we are all sinners and guilty before a holy God without sin
• Jesus Christ is God and came to the world rescue mission
• Jesus died on the cross as our sacrifice
• Jesus is risen from the dead as our savior show everything taught5
• Jesus tells us that we can be forgiven if they repent of our sins, to trust for our salvation by his death sin on the cross for us, and then live for him.
• Jesus told us that hell is a real place in the actual sentence
• He said Jesus is the only way of salvation, not one of many ways
• Jesus said he comes to judge the world, every person who ever lived, you and me.
• The Bible tells us exactly what happens during the trial – which are trusted for salvation in Christ alone is saved
• The Bible says he will not condemned to hell for eternity.

If heaven is real, hell is real, if the trial is on point, if only one way out, if only through repentance and faith in the sacrificial death Jesus of Nazareth 2000 years ago, then it seems to be the message the most important.

We will not waste time with the truth of this kind. Hell is real, eternity is forever, we can not escape, I will not go, I do not want my family or friends or to go. Only now we can be sure that we can continue to receive unmerited gift of salvation.

Let's encourage each other to be more aware and observe the underlying messages on television and films we watch, books, newspapers and magazines we read, the music we listen to, and attend events and celebrations (events, even Christian!). Do not let the spectators see the truth of being eroded. People need to know the truth.
