marine corps or army?!?
I’m for sure joining the military. I was dead set on the Army until my husband kept pointing out all the negatives.
He’s in the Marines and stationed here at Camp LeJeune. Since we wouldn’t be in the same branch they wouldn’t have to keep us together, we already own a house here, and I desperately want to stay on the east coast.
But all I’ve ever heard from our friends and family who are enlisted in the Marines keep saying how bootcamp has changed so much, they’re handing out stress cards there now, and the Boots are coming out more disrespectful, and finally… everyone I know is unhappy with their job or how lenient the corp has become. Ahhhh?!!! Any advice with my decision making?
P.s. I’m not concerned by bootcamp or how “hard” it will be, I was referring to the rumors of the stress card/ leniency.

I was on Parris Island less than a year ago, going through recruit training and have friends who are there now earning the title and i can assure you, there are no stress cards. The Army issued stress cards in the 90′s and the navy did for a about a month. It really pisses me off when poeple lie to incoming recruits sayign how soft everything is. Its all former Marines trying to make themselves out to be more hardcore than the generation after them, the “Old Corps” mentality. The Marine Corps still by far has the hardest recruit training. Army Basic is co-ed. As a female in my Marine Corps, attempting to earn the title, you will be in 4th Battalion. And there arent too many disrespectful people walking across that Parade Deck. Dont call them boots either, you’re married to a Marine, you are not a United States Marine. If you want a cake walkm go ahead join the Army, if you think you have what it takes, join my Corps. Marines dont bend their standards. Not too much leinancy going on. How ever leinant the Marine Corps is, mulitply it by 7 and thats the Army, this big, green, uncontrollable and undisciplined bunch of dudes with hair coming over the tops of their ears, and side burns and funny little devices on their uniforms, and berets and things of that nature. i beg you, go Corps. Not because we need you, but because i would hate for you to go army and in 3 years see some squared away US Marine on liberty and wonder if you would have had what it takes.
