Iso-Propyl Alcohol : Would this work in my Meths camping stove?
I normally use methylated spirits, but Iso-Propyl Alcohol (IPA) looks cheaper – would this burn the same?
You will have to try it to see if it burns – never tried it before!
However Meths is quite cheap for the amount that you need to cook a meal.
I always look at things in terms of beer. A bottle of meths is about the same price of a pint of beer – so if you can drink 1 pint less in a year then you have saved enough to buy the meths!
The other way to look at is is the cost of the overall trip – If I am camping then I have to travel to the area I am going to get to (say £30 return for petrol – similar for public transport), if using a public campsite that’s another £7 a night, food might be £20 for a weekend so a £2 bottle of meths isn’t a big expense.
Third thought is that if you are showing some one else how to use the stove then it is always best to show the correct method.
