Trying to remember the name of a short story, anyone?
I read this probably 15 years ago.. in school.. I am pretty sure it is a well known author.. I just can’t remember the name of the story, or author for the life of me..
I remember it takes place in the woods by a lake.. I think someone was camping.. but they die.. and the most memorable thing about it was that they had put a tea kettle over the fire, and it went on an on about the fact that the kettle was whistling… leaving you with the feeling that it may never stop because the person died.. (even though logic suggests that the water would burn out, the pan would be destroyed, or the fire would go out.. ) It’s been bugging me for awhile now.. and I’d love to read it again..
Note, this was probably from a lit class, but may even have been a Lovecraft story.. ( I doubt it, but it’s not impossible) Anyone have a clue?
