Should everyone be silent unless it is an emergency?
I just talked to my girlfriend, or rather she talked to me, for 45 minutes. Bleeding Christ, I literally didnt get a complete sentence in. What is in her head? Wouldnt silence help her clear it out?
Many times, for most girls and women, that is very important activity. That you and I don’t consider it communication at all doesn’t matter. Maybe what she wanted was proof that you care. Listening to her for 45 minutes probably was satisfactory proof.
Maybe she cares so much for you that merely being in your presence is satisfying. I have known women about whom I cared so much that it pleased me merely to walk with them, or sit with them in silence – or even to listen to them talk, talk and talk about no particular thing. Maybe she likes you so much that she wanted only to be with you, but she could not bear the blunt realism of silence. Maybe that’s the case. Silence is too intense for some people. Silence can be very frightening.
I wouldn’t want to risk being accused of yammerring on endlessly, so I’ll end this soon. Be glad you have a girlfriend. Be glad she was not saying “blah blah blah” to some other guy.
