The Golden Compass – The Best Movie Boxing Day
In the past two months I have seen at least 20 different movies. I've seen movies as "Sky Fall" and "Flyboys." I've seen "The Ron Clark Story" and even children's movies such as "Zoom". Of all these films, one of the few that I liked was, surprisingly, "The Golden Compass" which was released this Boxing Day.
Based on the early history of Philip Pullman trilogy, "The Golden Compass" is about a young girl by the name of Belaqua Lyra (Dakota Blue Richards), who is the subject of a prophecy about the destination worldwide. The film is set in a parallel universe where humans are accompanied by demons, a representation of animals in their souls. Mrs. Marisa Coulter (played by Nicole Kidman), Lyra explains that long ago when the first people who disobeyed the "Authority", a particle called "dust" was created. When children become adults, "dust" polluter through her Daemon. A sinister religious body called Magisterium (of which Ms. Coulter is a strong part) try to create a population that will never question their authority through a process called intercision. Many recent films have been dramas, and romantic, even those who have tried to present a more realistic scenario, ending on a sad note. Show stories about how bad things happen, not necessarily the fault of the hero or heroine, and the contrary is often portrayed in fairy tales, you can not always fix. While this is very true in real life, I personally do not find it particularly attractive in a movie. I think going to the movies for a bit of a break from our lives, for some hope, and even to see someone's life takes a turn for the better, so we can have faith in the world.
"The Golden Compass" showed all the things I love in a movie: great actors, fantastic visual effects, incredible settings, a great story and a good ending.
