typically, would river sand or desert sand have the best permeability and porosity values?
so if i did an experiment where i added the same volume of water to the same weights of river and desert sand, after 10 minutes would the desert sand have absorbed more water than river sand?
Desert sand, no doubt.
A river has loam, which is a highly valued commodity in growing plants. It absorbs water and retains it. It’s good stuff.
Desert sand is usually one size of particle, so water goes through it like a seive. It’s ultra permeable since it doesn’t hold water. It’s super porous for the same reasons.
