Who is the best (Canadian, Russian, American, Czech, Finnish etc.) player now and in the past???
Like Canadian – Thornton-Gretzky (for example)
Russian – Ovechkin-Kharlamov (for example)
American – ……… and so on.
Some of the people I pick for the “past” part are still playing, but the best years of their career are behind them.
Canadian now: Thornton, Brodeur / past: Gretzky, Roy
Russian now: no one sticks out; Malkin and Ovechkin still have work to do before I pick them / past: Pavel Bure
American now: DiPietro (though I hate to admit it) / past: Leetch
Finn now: Kiprusoff / past: Selanne
Czech now: Jagr / past: Hasek
Swede now: Forsberg / past: Sundin
Another good idea you can do for a question like this is a team-based list as opposed to a national-based one. Those should get some interesting answers.
