Can anyone recommend a good book to the beach?
I want something light … and cheap mass market paperback. I do not like hardcover books the beach. They get damaged so easily then I feel guilty. And they are too heavy to return bag. I hope that one of those books that you drag a bit of a cliff hanger at the end of each chapter are therefore invited to read the following.
I just returned from a wonderful week on the beach in Mexico with the book perfect: The Other Boleyn Girl by Phillipa Gregory. Perfect, because it combines sex, lies, sibling rivalry, parents disgusting, rich, and Performance imminent. A little history and a lot of fiction all wrapped. It was hard to put down, and got a killer tan in the process of separation in the days of King Henry VIII. It is also long enough so that you really only need to bring a book.
