So when Western journalists were arrested, knowing if caught in illegal territory, try to say it was accidental?
when war planes across western fly zones is in error ….. when the American ship sails illegal water navigation was faulty. then if detained, arrested, or shot by a hostile country all hell breaks loose! if the three hikers (lol) were reporters. should be tried by the laws of that country?
Americans have the bad habit of believing that only what is "better" for Americans is what matters. If a person enters United States illegally and is caught, that person is responsible for his actions and is punished, sometimes severely. There is no reason that another country does not have the right to withhold people within their borders responsible for their laws. Journalists in Korea, hikers in Iran, all violated the laws of the country they came and therefore deserve punishment. It is arrogant to think that because they were journalists or because they made a mistake that their actions are justified. Nor is there such thing as a "right to know." Reporters for me are the worst: the vultures and locusts. Anything and everything they do they believe is covered by this "right to know." I am a citizen of the United States, and I find the behavior of Americans abroad shame!
