Should I Stop Taking Atenolol?
I have been taking Atenolol 50mg for about 2yrs,last time I went to the cardiologist was about a 1 ago,he said everything was fine I did the Holster thing they did all kinds of test on me for hrs,he wanted to reduce my dose little by little so I can stop taking it,but I had to lose weight,Iv lost 60pounds and I’m still taking it,i feel like its to strong for me,iv had shortness of breath at times hart palpitations and been feeling like crap, the thing I can’t get a refill and I don’t have a doctors appointment till next month,I don’t have a ccardiologistand won’t have one till who knows when,I hate taking this medication should I just stop taking it because I lost weight
NO – this drug is a beta blocker and if you just stop it cold turkey, it could cause a heart attack. I took this medication in the 90′s and when I stopped taking it, my doctor reduced my dosage by half for 3 days and then I took the half dosage every other day for 4 days. I had a friend that sued her father’s doctor for malpractice because he just stopped his beta blocker and he had a heart attack and died.
Refill does jumping jacks!
