How do you get your child to sleep alone?

My daughter will not leave my bedroom. I have tried everything and she wont leave. It started when my husband went to Iraq for 9 months. She is a daddy’s girl and would cry for him almost every night. To keep my sanity and make sure she has her sleep as well, I allowed her in my bed. Yes, I know, BIG mistake. Daddy has been home for 2 years. It took months to get her out of my bed but she sleeps in my room on a air bed that I set up for my kids, we call it the scaredy mat. Ive tried letting her cry it out, she will scream for hours. I tried night lights. I even had her brother camp out in her room so she wouldn’t be scared. Nothing seems to work. Any suggestions???
The scaredy mat is intended for all my kids. For a bad dream etc.. We don’t like having the kids in our bed. We wouldn’t get any sleep, all the kicking and moving around. It is not to encourage her to stay.

Wean her little by little. Cold turkey isn’t going to work with her. Try rewarding her with little things (they don’t have to be toys or anything. Stickers, etc. maybe) when she stays in her bed for your set time. Then, gradually increase that time for her to get her reward. Make the reward at the end (when she sleeps in her own bed all night long consistently) something she really wants. I would also suggest giving her something of yours to have in her bed. Like let her wear your pj’s and spray them w/ your husband’s cologne so she feels like you are with her in her room. I hope this works. Good luck!
