Is it possible to open summer camp at your own house?
We’re in very bad financial shape (behind with mortgage). I had this idea last year, but just went away. It came back now….I love kids, got 2 on my own, and couple of years ago was a counselor at summer camp for kids. I was wondering if I can open my own summer camp in my house (Sunday night – Friday night). We have over 1 acre of land, and 4 bedroom house (with 2 additional rooms I would use as boys, and girls rooms). My idea is ages 7-8 and up. What do I need to do, before advertising, and if this is even possible. I know parents are very busy, and that may work for people as we live 40 miles from big city. Does $250.00 a week sounds OK ?
you can atleast lower your price a little more since you are a starter in the business, it is hard for you to se tup your house as a summercamp because you would need to hire more people who will take over their kids, also make sure that your house set up is a child friendly setup, no rough edges, more rubber coated materials and a playground. if you want to start that line of business. i want you to consider also the environment or the cet up of your land, were they flat, are there grasses, maintainance is a bit harder because kids would love to play outside, thus, check if the place is clean to avoid mosuitoes and etc. also, have a nurse or a doctor ready to look for the kid’s health or if there be untaward incident that may happen atleast there is a medical person who will attend to the kids.
