How do I find out what kind of colt revovler I have and what it is worth?
It was given to me by my grandfather right before he passed away, and he asked me to sell it and give the money to my grandmother.
I know it is a 45 and it came in a leather holster
Generally, if you look on the left side of the pistol barrel, there is some indication of what type of pistol it is, unless it’s THAT old. Look around the gun for distinguishing numbers, lettering, and marks, then call the factory and speak with someone who works there. Don’t DARE try to take it to a pawn shop, they don’t know their butt from a hole in the ground and you’ll get ripped on it.
There are gun auction sites you can use once you know the true value of the gun, and you may have to work with a gun dealer who has a FFL (Federal Firearms License? right?) to arrange for a transfer of the gun in case it has to go across state lines. Do it legally!
