Can I plug my 110V/2W/a7mA LED bulb into my 250V/660W lamp?
The nifty little LED bulb physically fits into the lamp-holder slot, but I haven’t plugged it in and turned it on, because I don’t want to ruin the bulb, the lamp, or blow a fuse or something if something goes wrong.
I seriously need to learn basic electrical skills, this is embarrassing. Thanks for answering!
The 250 volt/ 660 watt numbers are very rare for an actual lamp rating. Those numbers are the usual maximum ratings for certain lamp holders. If you can clarify the information, I suspect that you will find the actual voltage in the fixture is 120 volts and since the LED fits it should be OK. Electrical equipment is designed for use in North America with a non-interchangeability feature. This means if it is the wrong voltage or has a heavier amp draw, you can not easily install it in the wrong device.
