What are Meals Ready to Eat?
As its name implies, Meals Ready to Eat (MRE) are foods that are available for consumption. Big deal, you say, like pizza or other take-away food is a meal ready to eat. " However, these foods are packaged designed to have a long shelf life. Are also designed to require very little prep work. Therefore, these foods are perfect for preparing survival emergency such as earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, tornadoes and other natural disasters. These rations will be able to hold individuals for a period of time until help long-term relief comes.
The term "meals ready to eat" certainly seems general enough and only implies that food has been prepared previously. However, as already mentioned, there is a period of longevity associated with MRE. It aims to have a life span of a couple years.
