Realtek AC’97 front speaker output issue?
Hey everyone.
I have the Asus P5N32-SLI-SE-Deluxe with the onboard Realtek AC’97 ALC850. And for the record, I’m on WinXP.
The back panel has 6 connectors, but the ones I use are:
Green – front
Grey – rear
I have a simple 4-speaker system with two connectors:
Green – front
Black – rear
The problem is:
I use Realtek’s Sound Effect Manager icon from the control panel to setup the speakers configuration. The funny thing is that the connector sensor detects “Line In” as the “Front”, and the “Rear” is detected just fine.
So, all I hear is sound from the rear speakers, and nothing from the front ones.
I thought my speakers went bad, but I tested them and they work fine, but it’s the configuration that is wrong.
I tried the speaker configuration of Windows itself to no avail.
Drivers are up to date.
Any clues?
Anything is greatly appreciated.
