Looking for a great camping site near Portland/Old Orchard Beach in Maine, know any?
My friends and I want to go camping, but we want the whole rustic outside, campfires, away from it all experience. We don’t want to camp anywhere where there are RVs or a lot of stupid rules that take the fun away from the whole camping experience. We are looking for something fun and affordable but secluded that is near Portland, Maine. There are places like Powder Horn, but those are mostly for RV’s and like I mentioned before we want to go away from that. We just want to go camping in our tents in the wilderness, go fishing, maybe a swim, hike some trails and have a fun campfire cooking fish and smores while drinking some cold beers. Let me know if you can find a great spot like that! Thanks!!
I will always 100% recommend Sebago Lake State Park. Sandy swim beach with boat access. Hiking in the area. Very affordable, showers and bathrooms available. You can reserve sites, but there are also nonreservable sites that you just have to show up to get. Some campers, but none of the live there all summer kind. My favorite campsite.
