Renting an RV to drive from Oregon down to Disneyland, do you really need to reserve/need a camping spot?

Renting the RV for 10 days is gonna cost almost $1,500 and Reserving a camping spot for an RV near Disneyland I found out was over $100 a night does anyone know if getting a spot is really necessary. Can you just park on one of the beach parking lots and stay there? Is there anywhere cheap to stay with an RV? Is there anything important I should know before I do this? Please anyone who has ever done this help me out!!!

I’ve been in the RV Rental business since 1981 (and I very quickly became an RVer as well), and while I’m nowhere near you, I might have some ideas you can use.

First, go to www.rvworldofgeorgia.com and then on “Rentals”. Then go to “Great Travel Links”.,,lots of ideas that just scream road trip!

For ideas on campgrounds, go to the “Campground” link…I would suggest using the Woodalls link there. Almost everyone in this business will provide you with a physical campground guide book, but using the website gives a lot more information.

There is a parking lot between El Segundo & Redondo Beach, on the beach, that allows overnight parking (notice you’re parking not camping) that’s relatively inexpensive, but it has no hook-ups.

Using Walmart does not give you a place to dump or refill your water tanks; and you’ll use more gas to run your generator to operate any electrical appliance…and you’ll end up spending more in Walmart as well.

Remember, you want to pick a campsite as close to what you are doing. You might save money parking overnight at the beach, but will spend more on gas driving back & forth to Disney or Knotts Berry Farm, etc., so say nothing of your time…maybe an hour or so each way. It’s not just the cost of the campground, but the value of what you are getting.

You’ll see we have a number of helpful links to help make your road trip go smoothly…as well as some great fun ones as well…and I’m working on a National Special Events Calendar with hundreds of fairs, festivals, sporting events and much more, happening all over the U.S. where you might find some more travel ideas for your trip as well. You’ll find a link to my email if you have any questions I can help you with…glad to help a fellow RVer, even if they’re not my customer!

Happy Camping!
