Where is there great camping near Houston/San Antonio?
I live in Houston and am trying to drag my boyfriend camping. I am willing to drive a good distance for a nice spot with a LAKE. His idea of camping is a Holiday Inn with no room service, so I need somewhere that is basic but not backwoods. We will be tent camping and want to be able to drive in to the site (he is SO not an outdoorsman). I might even meet him halfway with cabin camping, but not an RV. Any thoughts? Thanks for your help!!
I’m north of you in Lufkin. There is Lake Livingston, Lake Sam Rayburn. There is some great camping east of Etoile. There is the 4C’s trail.
If you go toward Austin, there is Colorado Bend. Beautiful this time of year with no lake but there is waterfalls and springs, and natural pools. There is also Enchanted Rock and there is a lake/pond there.
