Looking for a good sleeping bag pad/mat for Camping?
Hello,
I am looking to purchase a sleeping bag pad for my Big Agnes Hog Park sleeping bag, i am only looking to spend between 30-50 dollars, i am looking for a foam pad, preferably closed cell and would prefer not to buy a self inflating air mattress. would also prefer a large one with a width of 25″ and max length of 75″-78″, weight is not really an issue as it will mostly be car camping. But i am just looking for something that will be decently comfortable and not ridiculously expensive at the same time.

I thought i should mention, i am a bit weary of using self inflated or inflated sleeping pads in general because i am worried about them popping or busting and then me being SOL
I don’t know how well it fits in a Big Agnes bag, but that’s a good sleeping pad in general. I use the regular version and am quite happy with. Closed-cell foam pads are really durable, I abuse mine constantly, using it to make a comfortable seat on top of rocks, roots and other things that would normally destroy an inflatable pad.
I know you said weight isn’t a concern, but foam pads actually weigh about the same as inflatable pads, sometimes even an ounce or two less, plus you can always cut off any portions of foam you don’t want. The issue for backpackers is usually bulk, some people want everything packed away inside their pack and that’s hard to do with foam pads.
I like “bomb-proof” equipment when I get away from civilization and I definitely think this pad qualifies as bomb-proof.
