Small Camping Gas Grills

Gas grill fire out of control?

We were using a gas grill outside, the type that is kind of embedded in a brick table. After cooking some ribs for a while, the fire become very strong and we thought it was just the fat that fell off the ribs, but it kept going after we turn off the grill, almost like a small camp fire.
Thinking it would be dangerous to leave it until it burn its self off, I poured some water to put out the fire.
So, what was happening to it?

Sounds like it’s time for a really good cleaning. The gunk caught fire and that’s why it kept burning even after the gas was off.

In most cases, it’s not good to use water on a “grease” fire, you can make it worse and spread the fire. Grease floats on top of water and you could end up with burning grease floating on the water and all that fun stuff.

But in your case and since it was contained in the grill, it wasn’t a horrible thing to do. But you need to do a thorough cleaning before you use it again.
