Tent Camping Germany

Edelweiss lodge & resort, Garmisch Germany…?

I was thinking of going for about a week and taking the tours offered there. I’m on a budget, so I thought I’d stay in the campsite area(buy a tent!) and camp out for $15/night. However, I was looking into the weather & found out it might be too cold for me(get cold easily). I’ll be going in early to mid- August. It’s in the mountains too, so would you recommend upgrading to the rustic cabin$399/7 nights)? What tours do you recommend if you’ve been on any of them?Any idea how much train ride might be from Munich to Garmisch? Thanks!
It’s on a military post, so I believe the cost is in American dollars not euros.

I get cold easily myself, and once cold I get sick easily. I get around this fairly well by using warm clothes like good thermal socks, good ear and forehead warmers and good neck warmers.

There are lame thermal socks, there are inadequate ear warmers (tiny and slip off of ears), there are poor neck warmers (way too loose), so search for options that work for you.

Sometimes you might use certain types of neckwarmers over the forehead (double fold them perhaps). If it looks strange, you could still use them at night when not many people see you anyway. Also, you might pull the neckwarmer over your eyes to serve a double purpose (warming the ears and forehead, and shutting out light).

The fast trains cost more and also I have found that it’s easy in a train station to make a mistake and buy the wrong thing. Oh, and I almost forgot about this — sometimes you need to get reserved seating in advance or you might have to stand (seats might all be in use).
