California Dreaming (one day of British summer!)
As I'm sitting here in my office dirty underground (well almost, there is certainly no window to speak!) could not prevent my mind from wandering. At first, my thoughts turned to climate which was frankly terrible for a number of summers now. I remember one time when me and my small collection of friends who pack some items (mainly beer and instant noodles!) and avoid working on Friday after a campground.
The summers seemed endless in the sun for all, because of lack protection, which almost led to another story, but I will not go! large quantities hot cider (West Country Boys) have been consumed. This generally resulted in very degenerate behavior and we had expelled Many campgrounds! A record I am not proud as you can imagine.
I recently tried to recover these days happy with my wife, but women do not seem to enjoy the same experiences. You know die of cold during the night, unbearably hot by 6:00 the next morning. beer warm silence breakfast, uncomfortable for the return trip all three hours, this kind of thing! It makes me think that there should be an experience Outdoor desirable that does not begin with the attempt to erect a tent horribly complex and ends in divorce. Suddenly, I had a moment of clarity and remembered the legend of the Volkswagen Camper!
Of course, I thought at first, because he had only remember my adolescence when, after having endured the wet and cold showers stores, my parents finally decided to invest in a VW camper. I remember it was a type 1974 2 1.6L, a Devon conversion I think although there is no doubt VW fanatic will correct me in this statement. What I know is that my stepfather bought it from a truck driver and the next generations of my family began a journey discovery that ended about ten miles away when a little valve engine decided it was tired of life.
Fortunately, my stepfather was very mechanical and have been able to install a remanufactured engine. Unfortunately, our problems do not stop there for A model from several years of family holidays from all the smiles and play I-Spy to terminate prematurely at the back of AA recovery truck. I think I remember who were the first names of some of the AA patrolmen.
I remember one year in particular I some considered responsible enough to stay home while my parents were almost dragging my long suffering sister with them and some French students with the name of Gaston or Christophe. Yes I thought a week Partay-ing for me. Imagine my horror when only a few hours later, the familiar orange flashing lights of an AA truck appeared in the curtains with the smoking remains of the van at the rear. He really serious this time because he had been burned in the parking lot of Swansea Leisure Centre. By Fortunately, the French had been brave boy extinguish the flames with a shaken bottle of lemonade as an improvised fire extinguisher, (a useful trick to remember) which prevents hell. The poor camper looked rather sad, but with blackened air intakes and distribution provider among others and in other houses had cruelly cut short.
I am pleased to say however that the latest generation of VW camper is about as far from the nightmares past called you can get. California is the latest incarnation and having recently discovered that they are the business. With performance car style and luxury interiors happy that I could spend the rest of your days languishing away in one of them.
Some say they have the souls of the good old days, air-cooled VW. It is true that some recalcitrant spend hours removing rust from their beloved vans can find many in North Devon during the summer months, keeping all traffic up!
But after relying on the stories I know that I go. Do not take my word for it, although many VW Van specialized centers that target in the right direction.
