Torch Lanyard

The multiple uses of the neck strap

Funny how the use of something that can change over time. As the tailbone or appendix, many things have survived the past that have lost all reason to survive. However, survive, dinosaurs or idea of an earlier age that have adapted to new uses, making a lizard or a crocodile in the process. The lanyard that curious fact of the string that appears in all places and is enclosed with all kinds of things is a remnant as a earlier age.

It is unclear as to when the safety rope for the first time up. And for what purpose. Being basically a piece of string that could have found useful in a business a day earlier. Nor can say with conviction that their primary use and the first is defined in the military camps of pre-modern Europe. It is likely that variants of string is used in other lands for other purposes – by the sword hanging, or jacket, or pulling the beard of a master drive. However, the company claims as the inventor of this piece in all parts of the chain comes from the army and navy only. The cord was originally a long piece of string – about one meter length – which is used to secure the knife or sword. This tradition was to wear the lanyard on the left shoulder attached to a knife which was tucked on the left chest out of pocket. The color and position (left or right shoulder) have changed this to that, but the security line has maintained its position in the chest ornamental the military of many centuries past – the "tin pot dictators in Africa within the burly four-star general in U.S. Army, pretentious royal princes in funny clothes to fake presidents in the Amazon jungle. Other sources claim that the cord is first used to tie the fodder for horses pulling the guns. Later, its use diverted to pull the trigger on artillery, a use that continues today in some systems old. With his experience with ropes and knots, the Navy, said the cord was his invention. Interestingly, the Navy also finished in the same place – A collar to the shoulder for men in uniform. various uses of the lanyard has been designed within the camps. Some use it to tie his wrists sabers allowing them to shoot the gun in one hand – the dragon word of French origin, derived from such use. Later, when it became a matter of guns standard, the gun was attached to the uniform with the safety rope. Everywhere we find that the cord was around the main object of the profession men in uniform.

Times have changed. The adage that sounded hollow few years ago – that the pen is mightier than the sword – it has been argued in favor of holder of intellectual resources. Today, the cord is seen more in the company of civilians in the company of men in uniform. The cord is attached to the pen, torch, knife, logo, whistle and what does not. As more consumer devices miniaturized everything from cell phones to iPods and digital cameras the company gain sacred lifeline. It is a sign of changing times most empowering devices (phones and cameras) are associated with something that was also the partner of the symbols of empowerment yesterday (swords and guns).

Not to be outdone, the metaphor of empowerment is sought for charitable causes. MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY, the international campaign to end extreme poverty worldwide, has chosen the humble cord as a symbol of solidarity with the just cause of liberation from oppression. As the official website added: "When we support Make Poverty History demonstrate our role as liberators, but not in a way that is painful! Boring, but exciting and new ". The lanyard can hold the keys to release and "also functions as a mobile phone holder" There you have it -. Empowerment of the most humble of sources.
