As a resort, while Ventura

Lovers beach vacation usually want a big city just to go with it – a place with a atmosphere and a touch to go with superb cultural landscape.

We found everything we needed in Ventura, one of those places that have always asked we walked through this area on our way to other destinations picturesque central coast of California. For us, it was driving by country – scenic yes, but always somewhere, we just passed on the way elsewhere.

Ventura is located in a place that is truly beneficial to passengers. For residents of southern California, is a simple player that takes you beyond the mega-cities, where cities back-to-back give way to a coastline that is less overwhelmed by development. Central Coast beaches are fine, but if it comes from the south and not much time, Ventura is a beach destination pleasure by himself.

the majority of Californians from the North, Ventura is a fairly close to the "big city" to be a reasonable basis activities for visits to major tourist attractions in Los Angeles in one hour by car. However, you stay in the beach community of choice in California which is far from the bustle of the city. I do not go into the city for a day? Just chill out in some of the most picturesque beaches in the state.

The reminder of one of the city was our hotel – the Crowne Plaza, a former Holiday Inn that is becoming more premium brands. At 15 storeys, is the only skyscraper in the region and can not be built again with strict rules on the coast today. The hotel offers stunning views ocean, the Channel Islands and the green slopes on the north-east of Ventura. The Crowne Plaza is located so all the rooms above the second floor offers spectacular views of the coast.

A few minutes after arrival, we walked around the promenade which stretches from the hotel in both directions along the coast. A great beach is just steps away, and there are restaurants and lots of activity in the Near Ventura Pier. Bicycles and other gadgets are available for rent, and Sunday, vendors offer a variety of goods on the spot, right between the beach and the hotel.

Only up to California Street from our hotel was the commercial district of a city with colorful small shops of all kinds, restaurants and a high concentration of antique shops that are fun to explore. Several surf shops are nearby and, like other California coastal cities, the feeling is more retro fashion. The historic City Hall stands majestically on a small hill on the border with the District of downtown, which serves to remind us that Ventura really is a city and not a strip of beach in uncoordinated development.

At the intersection California Street is the main street and if you walk a few blocks to meet the mission of San Buenaventura. This mission was established on Easter Sunday March 31, 1782 and became the ninth California mission, founded by Fray Junipero Serra. Fires and earthquakes have affected effects on the mission, but over the years, residents have renovated the building up of its former glory. In all cases, the mission "feels" original and worth the detour When you're downtown.

Just across the street is the Mission Museum History and Art, which offers a wide range of exhibitions stuffed in a small space. historical artifacts, agricultural tools, Century 18 digits – the museum offers a great variety.

One thing you notice after a few hours in Ventura, is that everywhere I go, you hear '60 's music. You can not foreign the fact that many types of surfers and beach from this era continue to linger in this city famous beach. But perhaps – if the seller hot dogs on the sidewalk, the antique shop on Main Street or the sushi restaurant in the center, everyone plays music from the early '60s 'S.

The sushi restaurant is Sushi supra Marina, a local hot spot where we stopped for dinner. But a good word here – apparently the restaurant is very popular with locals, however, has relatively few tables and no real space to wait for your table to call it. Food was good, but really the time to visit our future to avoid the rush.

There are about two miles from the beach near Ventura are considered as part of the local state park, and visitors are fascinated by the beach with relatively small populations where one can look in the Channel Islands and also get a spectacular view of the coastline to the west and north of Santa Barbara. At sunset, we made a point to go through Surfer's Knoll where you can walk on the sand dunes to find a place to watch the sunset in western sky. The people here treat the sun as much as they do in Key West – is an event, and people make it a point to wander the beach every evening to celebrate the beauty of landscapes of the region.

If the beach and a bustling commercial district of the city are not sufficient to attract your attention, here are some attractions of tourists visiting the region of Ventura

The Ventura Harbor Village and Marina – If you like boats – or just be near them – the port area has hundreds of them with a basket of 33 acres and entertainment, Puerto Aldea. There are many charter boats, fishing excursions and a variety restaurants. Remember to check the "almost" old carousel of 36 animals that was built in 1955. This gallery also offers homemade fudge, games popcorn and enough to keep children busy for hours.

Channel Islands National Park Visitor Center – Located in the Ventura harbor area, the center offers exhibitions on fauna and flora of the island, and a graphic relief map that gives visitors an idea of the size of the islands. Islands are visible from the Ventura region and are the favorites for hiking, diving, snorkeling, swimming and birdwatching. It is also possible for visitors to tour the camp and picnic on the islands, with tours leaving the port area.

AJ Comstock Museum – a look at the firefighters to principles and methods. It is a museum Free and open all the time.

The Albinger Archaeological Museum – Located near the mission, the museum displays artifacts without going back 3500 years and different cultures. See also the basis of original mission in the area of the excavation. A GLANCE
