The advantages of LED lighting
LED lighting has been around for a long time now, however until recently was not considered good light source for white light. Recent technological developments have made it possible for an LED light to allow more white light as a conventional bulb so it is a source lighting viable for different types of applications. Light emitting diodes currently seeing heavy use in the headlights.
LED is short light emitting diode. This type of lighting is powered semiconductors and the recent developments in technology is capable of emitting as much light as a regular light bulb without loss of energy as heat. This type of lighting is more energy efficient and will last longer than any normal light bulb available today on the market. California, which is always the front runner countries on energy saving and the laws of environmental protection is in the process of transition and the impending ban on all incandescent bulbs by 2010, this is in itself a testimony that LED lighting can be used in all aspects of everyday life as a viable alternative to the incandescent light bulb.
Lets See the differences between light-emitting diodes and other types of conventional lighting available today:
First we faithful old incandescent lights that create light by running a current through a thin filament which is heated to a temperature high enough so the production of visible light. This process is very inefficient because 98 percent of the energy used to create the light using this process is lost as heat. The typical life of an incandescent light is about 1000 hours.
Fluorescent lamps work by passing a current through a mercury vapor, which in turn produces ultraviolet light that is absorbed into the light by a phosphor coating that will begin to shine. This process is more efficient than incandescent, but the energy is lost by the creation of ultraviolet light that is absorbed by the layer emit light. Energy bills can be reduced by up to 30 percent change this source of light. Due to its construction, light emitting diodes are very durable which generally last 100 times longer then conventional lighting products. Given that this type of lighting do not emit heat that poses little or no danger in the way of helping to cause a fire. The longevity of this type of lighting is very difficult overcome. In general, LED lights last up to 50,000 hours, which gives them a life waiting for about 10 years before having to be replaced.
Many forms of lighting LEDs are now available for every aspect of daily life. LED light bulbs used in flashlights, residential lighting, automotive lighting and the landscape. More and more signs are also using this source of light. If you have looked at a traffic really closely you will see an LED light in action. Light-emitting diodes are also breaking into the arena of rope lighting, boat lights, and reflectors.
